Excessive activity of the muscle controlling the chin movements can result in an accentuated crease between the lower lip and the prominence of the chin that amplifies the projection of the tip of the chin forward. Some people may also present an involuntary puckering of the chin, also known as “pebble”, which appears as convolutions of deep ridges and furrows while speaking or conveying particular facial expressions.
The injections in the relevant muscles may reduce or eliminate the involuntary convolutions or corrugations of the chin and reduce the projection of the chin.
